trailer building
« on: September 03, 2008, 08:10:06 AM »

so, i want at least 5'x8' low deck trailer. im sick of loading shit into my truck and this way i can haul my motor cycle. seems they are not so cheap on craigs list so im thinking of building one. just wondieng if any of u guys have ever built ur own trailer.

i figure i need.

1 axle (not sure if i want leaf spring or torsion)

1 set of tires

hitch that dosnt suck

lights/wires

and then

meterial for frame

some kidn of decking

some kind of ramp

i figure ill draw it up in auto cad, make some nice blue prints to work off and go nuts. just wondierng what sugestoins others would have befor i go nutz on this stuff.

im trying to find th eaxle and such befor i do much else. i actuly have a full drum break mk2 rear beam in my yard, kind of debaiting using it and some kind of somehting for suspenoin. dont want to make this overly complacated at all, light and simple.

needs to ride/tow nice

needs to be as light as it can and still be safe

needs to be super easy to hook up/unhook on my own

and lastly cheap and asy to build adn store.

oh and it needs to have the same sexy smell as all of alibama!.......

round these here parts, i see alot of people buy cheap as shit, beat to shit trailer motorhomes in whatever size they want, rip off the roof and sides, throw on a new deck of whatever material they want and done.

havn't done it, cause i dont need a trailer. but it is cheap and very low on labor dance!
