I get the impression that DCI is a front for a handful of elitests with moderately nice cars who surround themselves with people who cant think for themselves, who need to be part of something to feel better about themselves. Its a viscious cycle. -big bentley on vortex

what would make a QSW overheat on the freeway and not in town?

my guess was thermostat not open, but im retarded. brain damage!

Most likely thermostat.  but also check to see if the cap holds pressure.

Longshot, but...

You don't have an AC condenser in front of the radiator that is all gunked to shit?  Possibly blocking airflow to the radiator on the freeway -- but in the city sitting at stoplights and/or the fan dissipates heat good enough that it doesn't overheat.
