Classic Fixed Gear: Finally!
« on: September 20, 2006, 11:54:23 PM »

So most of you saw my Windsor project way back when... Well, Tuesday was my birthday, so I started/finished a new project.
I'll get a better photo later, but here it is:

Specs:

1973 Dawes 57cm Frame w/ windowed Nervex lugs & Original head badge in perfect shape
- Stripped and powdercoated Civic Si blue
Easton Carbon Fiber Fork w/ CF steer tube
Ritchey threadless headset
Deda stem
Nitto Bullhorns
Velocity wheels / Miche track hubs / Vittoria Rubino tires
Shimano 16t cog
FSA 42 tooth chainring
Shimano cranks
Shimano sealed bottom bracket
Noname pedals
Soma dual-strap toe-clips
Selle Italia Flite seat
Promax seat Post

Got it off Craig's List when it was only halfway done and went parts ballistic to finish it.
I don't even want to talk about how much I'm into it, but it was a damn good self-birthday-present.

Anyway, it rides like a fucking absolute dream, and I'm completely in love.
Not to mention it's breathtakingly sexy.
Only things I'll do in the future:
-Take it back apart and hand polish the lugs (because they really do deserve to stand out)
-Switch to black wheels (they were on there when I got it)

Looks nice, hope you have a good lock.  I always figured if I had a town bike it'd be rattle canned so less likely to be stolen.

Yeah, I forgot to pick up a lock, hence why it's sitting in my room right now.
Well, that and I wanted to stare at it longingly all night.

I'm riding down to the shop in a little bit to pick up a lock and a blinky light.

Oh god damn. So sessy.
I'll get better pics of her today.

The blue rims are growing on me. Like, a lot. Wait until I get good pics and you'll see.
I went out and got a lock and some lights so I'm legal, and I got a zillion compliments on it.
Well, not a zillion. More like 4 or 5. But still.

Anyway, just got back for a 3 hour ride around the city.
And, despite this being my first fixie, I only tried to coast once.
I've been trying not to use the front brake, and so far I haven't.
It's great. A lot more organic feel to the bike when you don't have gears or brakes.
Yeah. I'm in love.

Sorry, I've been too busy riding the bike, painting my room, drinking a bunch and working on my moped to take pics.
But, I think, tomorrow I should be able to snap off a few.

It's a clip-on light. Only at night.
Motorcycle cops are dicks about bike legality here.
So otherwise, it just sits in my bag.

One brake. Still haven't used it.
Again, cops are cracking down on fixies in PDX.
