Well, tonight it was freezing cold and I when I got to my car it was really badly steamed up inside...
I let the motor run for about 15 minutes, trying to get the fan to kick in and de-mist the windscreen, but no go... The fucking thing wouldn't fire up.
So out came the cloth and I wiped the windows down and drove back home.
I was getting really pissed off that the fan wasn't working; bitching and moaning to myself about it most of the way back.
Then I stopped at a service station, got out and went round to the passenger side, opened the door, got on my knees and punched the underside of the dash in the footwell. Blamo... The fan started working!
I danced a fucking jig, got back in the car, smiling to myself and drove home.
I've had new cars for the past 9 years, getting rid of them after 3 years and 60000 miles... So when stuff has gone wrong with them, it has REALLY fucked me off, as new cars shouldn't break down (and having do deal with "dealers" over here is an absolute nightmare).
I seem to have been thinking along the same lines with my current car, but on the way back, I decided that this was just part of this car's character, and that after 9 years and 163000 miles, I should cut it some slack (and I was pretty happy that I've got a car that I can punch to make stuff work again!!).
So, until this car starts costing me a lot of money, I'm going to keep it... And I'll keep hitting the fan, if that's what it takes.
I like my Audi
