scirocco II seat bracket clearance issue..
« on: March 05, 2008, 07:22:18 AM »

I've got a pair of seat brackets that work with recaro sliders that came out of a scirocco I.. unfortunately, they dont clear the crossmember of the floorpan that comes off the transmission hump on the inboard side- the bolt closest to the gearshift needs to be right where the corner of that hump is..

anyone know if that can be "hammer clearanced" a little, or if I'm better off getting new brackets?

New sliders. Tried the hammer thing. Seat's pretty much immobile either way.

new sliders won't help.

I guess you mean new brackets, right?

Yes. On my seat the sliders are attached to the bottom of the seat and the bracket has a piece welded to the front at a 90 degree from the original bracket. Brings the front up about 1.5" from where it was originally. Seat still collides with the center console when you bring it 3/4 of the way forward, though.

I should probably take a picture of this then..

mine has a bolt running through the front and the back, but the shaft of the bolt is parallel with the trans hump.

the back of the bracket flexes, and the front of the bracket is a piece of flat metal with a hole through it.. that might also be able to be flipped if the front of the seat doesnt sit too high- I need to get the seat out there and see how it fits in the car.

what kind of seats are you using?

FloFit. Never heard of them before today. Weird. They look kind of like Corbeau GTS, first gen.

Seatsource might actually be a good place to look for your brackets, now that I think about it.
