clutch issue's
« on: September 14, 2007, 06:43:36 AM »

ok so about a month ago, I had just put a bigger nozzle on my water and alchol injection, and decided to take my car for a rip and get on it pretty hard to check my a/f #'s. When I did that I heard a noise, and after that my car sounded like it had a race clutch in it (chattering like crazy). When you pushed the clutch in the noise would go way. So last night I finally had some time to work on my car and get the transmission out, the pressure plate, and disc both looked fine? Plenty of meat left on the clutch, and everything looked like it was wearing properly. So I am thinking that it might be the throw out bearing, but I am not sure what to look for in a throw out bearing being bad. I would hate to throw a 5 dollar part in it, and put the transmission back together, and have it make the same awful noise. on a side note, it seemed like the pressure plate bolts where pretty easy to take out, I used a ratchet, and socket. One of them was really easy to get out. I will update this post later with pictures, my camera's batteries are dead.

So what should I look for in a bad pressure throw out bearing? Does anyone have an opinion on what it might be?

Check for a bent clutch fork too. Obviously triple check the pp for broken straps/rivets.

ok I will.

I think that there is something fucked internally on the tranny. When you take your hand and spin the spline it moves a roation and then get hungup, and if you roll is back then forward again it will get un-stuck. Its wierd.

I had that happen once and it was a piece of broken thrust washer stuck in a bearing.
