TIG is actually easy as fuck

try that on a stainless bowrail outside on a boat thats moving with the wind blowing while your hanging on the side of said boat with the sun glairing on your lense... oh yeah and you cant grind the welds thay have to be polished out.  - make you wanna pull out your hair!  or at least quit and go drink a beer!

tig is easy as fuck to learn but hard as fuck to master.

oh yeah and FUCK GRAINING METAL!!!  you can have that shit.

heheheh... I love fabricator "war stories." We should totally start a thread on that shit.

To grain this material we:
Cut the sheets to exact size
build a few large jigs... and when I say large I mean forklift large
rented an industrial floor sander.. :)
Ran the sander over the pieces in piece specific jigs, two - four forward passes, switch out the belt, one piece done.

Took about a month of two-four guys on the shit every day to grain everything...
So if you want to do a smaller version the belt sander with 220 or so does the same effect so long as you make a jig to keep your parts consistant.

yeah, I know your pain... try welding the same wine rack formation 408 times (12 welds per rack, 408 for six bottles...68 for 5 and 34 for 3 actually) for seven days.. RAD.

Try hanging from a homemade rack that goes over the top of a 28 ft truss doing overhead in a less than 30 degree angle, while your MIG nozzle doesn't even fit that far in, and its 117 degrees outside.

Ooooorrrr doing verticle welds all day long sitting on the floor, again in less than a 30 degree angle smashing yourself between two square tubes to get as close as you possibly can to the weld, but yet having to hold your arms out pretty much all day in order to reach into the angle that far.

Ive got more.... Im sure you guys do to.  :)

That last one is pretty funny looking Im sure, all you can see is my welding hood. The rest of me is tightly fit into the truss.
