Yeah. Tried that. I think it's messing up my hubs more than it's loosening the wheel. Maybe torch on the wheel and ice on the hub, followed by liberal application of hammer. I don't want to try that until I'm sure I can't find another way.

I know this is an old topic.. but if anyone ever runs into this problem, the best thing to use is another tire (or your spare, or whatever).. it's heavy enough to jar it loose, and the rubber tread wont fuck up your wheel.. I dont care what kind of hammer you're using, that is WAY more likely to bust it loose on the first hit.

Car's up on jacks right now while I replace the steering rack. Turns out they're kia wheels and have an even smaller I.D. on the hub. I'm just going to take the wheel off with the hub and cut the wheel off of it with an air chisel. I'll probably have an ad in the wanted section later, asking for rear calipers and shit.

well, swinging it at it, yes.. I wouldnt recommend fully throwing it, as they can bounce quite a bit.
I've never had a time when it didnt work.

A friend of mine (NOT a car guy) called me one day, said he had a flat. He took the lug nuts off but the wheel was stuck on. He called me from the side of the road asking if there were any tricks to get his wheels off. I said "Did you kick it?". Then there was a slight pause, I heard a thunk, and he said "uh, never mind, I'm an idiot". The kicking the shit out of it method usually works for me, although probably not with an undersized center hole.

do they salt the roads where you are?
thats the worst part about the shit they put on the roads out here... it just forms scale around the edge of the hub, the guys in the shop are constantly having to hammer them off.
the spare works on the ones that the hammer wont..

i had to use a grinder and cut the lip off of the wheel around the hub hole thingy to get a honda steelie off of a mk2 once. still had to hammer the shit out of it to get it off. i wanna say honda hubs are a few mm smaller in diameter so its a real tight fit.
