squirt ME!
« on: May 09, 2007, 08:26:18 AM »

ok, here is what i have

2.0 ABA

gsxr 1000 itb's

passat 16v cable shift tranny

going in a 1980 caddy.

id like to run fueling and ignition off the mega squirt just to keep tuning as easy/crisp as it can be.

what should i start buying? i do have the option to run my ignitoin off the early style vw standaloneish igniton system if that will be fine and save me a bizzion dollers. btu id rather have it all in 1 unit just for ease of tuning brain pain.

.... its time to get this moving. i need my caddy running liek 3months ago.

if for 300 buk si can get everythig nto buildthis on my own w/ all the odd's and ends that seems fair. i 1/2 own a lm1 wide band set up so i dont realyl need a intragated wide band but i kind of want it...

That's where I'm getting mine, already paid the $$ and have been waiting for nearly 1.5 months.  Finally got an email from him.  If you buy from him, don't expect it to be fast.

jess, you can buy the parts as a kit for like, $150...if you have a hookup with wiring, you can make a harness for cheap. i was at the mercy of paying full price at Napa for all of my connectors (gm weatherpak stuff) and wire...i bought out all their 16ga wire in every color, and had to order more....was something like $200-$250 for all of it. kinda steep, but like i said, i got 0 help on pricing with any of that.

if you want to buy the stuff and are skeptical on soldering it together, i can do it for you. i've built 3 boxes so far....one of which runs right now, the other 2 are my car and pickles setup.

also, since you are using an ABA setup, you have a crank reference sensor, you can integrate the whole ignition system right into the 'squirt for not that much extra work. i think between me and paul, you could get it up and running (more so paul than me, he's done the shit numerous times, i have only built the boards and made Photoshop wire diagrams).

hell, paul probably has a 2.0L x-flow itb program from his buddy's car that was running the Puma ITB's...as easy as install, wire, turn key, drive.

I get my kits from either DIY or Glenn's garage, no problems with either. Honestly though for $300ish for a fully assembled MS1 V3 it's almost worth it not having to think about building it. I only build my own so I can do my own QC and leave out a bunch of expensive parts that I don't use like the voltage protection stuff, the VR stuff and the on board 'hot' ignition.

They normally take me two week nights from nothing to a working and tested unit. I'm a bit experienced though and have a TON of soldering/assembly experience beyond MS.

Two nights, after work, so not starting till 7 or 8 and going to 11ish.

PS don't get all the frills, make sure you get the V3 with the MS1 processor. Running the fancy code on MS2 is bleeding edge and the car I've been trying it on thus far hasn't been working.
