I get the impression that DCI is a front for a handful of elitests with moderately nice cars who surround themselves with people who cant think for themselves, who need to be part of something to feel better about themselves. Its a viscious cycle. -big bentley on vortex

Decided to sign up for the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic
« on: April 04, 2007, 04:49:42 PM »

So... fuck it.. i need a goal.. so here i am writing it down.

Route Statistics
This data is provided by EndlessPursuit

    * Total distance (miles) 202.25
    * Uphill distance (miles) 30.87
    * Uphill altitude (feet) 1,951
    * Maximum altitude (feet) 463

Idealy i would like to complete this ride on my single speed langster... even though i think that is a little far fetched....
I ride an average of 50 miles a week without even training... dont worry.. im still fat.

things ive been thinking...

-put a 52-16 on the langster for all out straight away speed.
-put a 3 or 7 speed auto hub on
-borrow a bike long term from someone and train on it...

im really worried about tires... somehow i always lose pressure over time.... i ride at 115psi but over the course of a week i need to pump up twice. i need something indestructible if you guys have any ideas.

there are two versions of this classic.. a one day, and a two day... i plan on doing the two day and bringing the girlfriend.. and if it goes well, entering the one day next year.

anyone want to join?

peace.

A friend of mine ran it last year, finished it in 12 hours straight.

Granted this guy's been riding his bike every day for the last...5 years or so, and trained for 3 months to do it.

And apparently he was numb for 2 days.

so yeah, enjoy having no feeling in your balls.  O0

Looks fun.  I'd love to be able to get up there to ride that one day.

i will be there on a femmy bianchi milano, just for you turk.  i am actually pretty fucking excited about doing this, even if it is a fun run of sorts.  i really don't feel like training for a 12 hour race though when i think about it so, 2 dayer works just dandy for me.  i hope my butt will hold up ok.

so it looks like I need to be doing 130 miles a week right now if I want to do it.....

SHIT...... I haven't even put on 130 in all of 2007

I rode to work on friday
If I can start doing that daily, I'm up to 80 a week
