Post by: mario_marques on August 19, 2008, 09:36:08 PM
Hi everybody, i was looking for the "presentations section" but there's no such thing, well, i'll do it here, i'll present me and my car.
I'm Mário from Portugal, i bought this car 4 years ago, it's a vw golf tdi pd 115 with drw six gears gearbox.
It has some small modifications.

pd 160 port&polished+thermal coated+race pipe
(http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/1791/imagem782yb5.jpg)
home made turbo inlet system(pd 160 alloy pipe + that green ugly pipe).

Pd 130/150/160 oil to water cooler polished

Tuned up clutch(can handle more than 550Nm of torque)

There's more engine work like pd 130/150/160 injectors, pd 130/150/160 piston head+headgasket+camshaft+cooling lines, mintex high performance brake pads, fuel cooler, dekat pipe, hybrid turbo and of course, new ecu map

The car is blue not black but its a deep blue(very rare), it has vw sport suspension and oem 23mm sway bar, alluminium inserts in the interior and sport seats, 17" speedline "santa monica" wheels, esp, climatronic and some other things.
I installed those new set of bosch vw headlights with 6000k xenon.

In the future i will install a new suspension setup, front mount intercooler and i'm looking for a front gti 25th spoiler valence.

This engine runs very good!!!Lot's of torq!!!

That's all folks

carsluTT if you have a big ammount of torque and horsepower you will love this gearbox, in sixth gear at only 2000rpm's you're going at 120km/h

that's true, diesel cars need long gearboxes because they work at low rpm's, if you swap a diesel gearbox into a petrol engine wich rev's higher so you will have a very long gearbox to explore

I understand a big of english, spanish and french, i think we can all talk
sorry about the native talk(portuguese).
I have to take some new shots of my car, decent ones, those are old and you cant see in detail all car.
In portugal most of vw cars are diesel, it's difficult to see good petrol vw golf's, when i look at the pictures of the vw meeting here i really go nuts, really beautiful cars full of class and quality!!! really good cars!!!
I've been looking in this forum for projects zone, i didnt find one, you shlould create a zone for models, mk1, mk2, mk3, etc...to apreciate all of your amazing machines.
Oh and for portuguese people and those who want to, you can check this foruns:

http://www.clubegolfpt.com/forum/ -----------------------> clube golf portugal
http://excoboard.com/exco/index.php?boardid=15764 ------> dub squad portugal

You're not going to see awesome projects as you see in vortex or other big, big foruns but you can see some good quality projects too.

soon i'll show you guys 2 projects of mk1 of friends wich ones i'm helping to build it up, one will be a vr6 and a tdi160hp with a several modifications in the engine.

welcome mario-

its good to see someone doing something with a pd- not many people on this side of the world tune them to be monsters, just for more fuel economy  :tard:

love what you're doing with it.. keep it up.

welcome mario-

Thanks!!! In a tdi engine you can have both, fuel economy(if you were gentle with the acelerator) and power.
I have about 180hp and about 390Nm of torque, i'm doing about 5,5L/100km i think it's about 3gallons and a half each 60miles if i hit the gas it goes up a bit but not too much, tdi's are quite economycall that's why people in europe love them.
Pd engines are less economycall than a vp engine and you need to have some cares in pd engines such as fuel cooler because diesel gets really hot and it can drill a piston and damage the nozzles. heheheh!!
Here in portugal there's some tdi engines about 300hp or closer and a massive torque, they reach 300km/h or closer, really fast cars, the thing i hate in them it's the smoke, lot's of it, they smoke like a dammn old train  :p

these new clean diesel vws we have now to work on the low sulphur fuel (you have had it in europe for years) don't smoke at all.. they're pushing 140hp and 236tq out of the factory engine, and there is a TON of room for improvement in software alone from what I'm told.. we only get about 45mpg the way they come from the factory on the highway, but they are apparently tuneable for more power + 60mpg.

I saw a bunch of GTDs in rome when I was there, I wish I could have one of them over here, but people havent fallen in love with the diesels the way they should in our country.. we dont get any of the cool shit.

Nuno is about all the Portagee that we can handle at this time. ;)

We've got a project forum, it's just tucked away.

For model specific forums head this way --> http://dubsquad.org/forum/index.php?action=collapse;c=4;sa=collapse;#4

Everything from B2 Passats  to MkV Jetta/Rabbits to fixed wheel road bikes can be found there. Though they really aren't all that busy.

Yep, Tuned TDI's are lots of fun!

I used to have a Skoda Fabia vRS with the PD130 engine:

My Mum has one now that is running almost the same power :)

We both went to Custom-Code for our remaps.

Keep up the good work!

Only thing I know is in the words of gale banks "smoke equals lost power"

That's just a fuel dumpin..trim it up and use that shit...anyone over there use propane injection?

Smoke = power, well sometimes smoke means rubish ecu file or not enough turbo pressure or shitty intercooler, with proper turbo and intercooler you can drive smoke free as you see in le-mans 24h or other tdi racing car.
Here we dont use propane injection yet but i've seen some crazy shit like skyline turbos(they havent vnt system), vw touareg nozzles or even bigger(racing tuned ones), nitrous, in portugal there's very good chip tuners for diesel engines they explore the engines to the maximum, for example some of them squeaze 60hp extra for the pd 100 engine(with lots of smoke on it because you reach the turbo limit).
The most powerfull tdi i know has 300hp on it, the base engine is a pd 130, but it's not the fastest, there's one with less power that is way fastar because it has a better power distribution, if you search on youtube you can see wath i'm talking about, search for "ibiza leon" i't a video on a track, ibiza vs seat leon super copa(racing car with 300hp and all that racing stuff, gearbox, low weigh, aerodynamic, bla, bla, bla).

Great news i found a great front mount intercooler for my dub
Is similar to the intercooler os the golf tdi150hp, same size of the water cooler, all front and it's new and quite cheap, it cames from a opel astra gtc 150hp. heheheheeh!!! let's give fresh air to my car. hehehehe!!!
