Title: Re: Le Frog Post by: uncle climax on July 30, 2008, 11:51:57 PM i wonder if those are made in the same place as the redline conquest? i had one and it looks exactly the same. nice new bike!
Title: Re: Le Frog Post by: Krauthammer on July 31, 2008, 08:08:37 AM Its just a Kinesis frame, so its possible Redline sources their frames from them as well.
Title: Re: Le Frog Post by: Scuba on August 11, 2008, 07:19:31 PM My fuji dude told me that every modern carbon bike is made in 3 factories in Tiawan. No matter where it may say it is made, assembled, painted, or concieved. If there is carbon in it, it's from one of the big 3.

Truf -- - most everything in bike shops costs like $0.50 and comes from china/taiwan/uzbekistan/etc With frames, the "Brand" tells the factory to tweak their frames ever soo slightly to make them look like they were uniquely designed and manufactured. They'll do stuff like tell the factory to change the angle a little here, use an oval tube here, etc....., but for the most part, most frames are made by the same people.. I read that even the bikes that are "Made in Italy" or whatever even use frames from the same place. They'll import a full carbon frame for $400, throw on some paint, stickers, and $900 worth of components and sell the bike for $4,000. Since most of the "value markup" was added in Italy, they can say "Made in Italy" even though all they did was assemble and paint it. You ever look closely at gloves, pumps, lights, etc... same shit, different sticker. That thing you paid $30 for only cost $1.. I've been trying to think of ways to get tons of cool shit for uber cheap. http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/flybikeforchina/product-detailoeYxphwTgLWI/China-Road-Racing-Carbon-Frame-FM004-.html http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/wfq001/product-list/catalog-1.html http://www.globalsources.com/gsol/GeneralManager?search_what=1&action=GetPoint&action=DoFreeTextSearch&prodNo=40&sppNo=40&type=new&catalog_id=2000000003844&loc=t&article_search=off&point_search=on&product_search=on&point_id=3000000149681&query=vw&page=search%2FProductSearchResults&supplier_search=off&AGG=N Title: Re: Le Frog Post by: snipun on August 12, 2008, 06:05:14 AM This is why I steal.

They quality control rep will remove "made in tiawan" stickers on high end models before they are shipped to regional distributors. Title: Re: Le Frog Post by: Krauthammer on August 12, 2008, 09:37:18 PM Its all the same shit, whether it says Trek or Fuji or Specialized or Ridley
the only exception are truely handbuilt frames, in which case its like anything built by a craftsman: a work of art and love. |
