I get the impression that DCI is a front for a handful of elitests with moderately nice cars who surround themselves with people who cant think for themselves, who need to be part of something to feel better about themselves. Its a viscious cycle. -big bentley on vortex

i've never fucked with the charger kits...

and never pulled an A/C pulley...

but...

why the fuck would they require that? if the kit requires that, i'd look at rerouting the belt (if not buying a different kit), cause that's fucking rediculous. it just takes an idler pulley to prevent that kind of work. if somebody designed a kit like that (not VF or C2) they are fucking morons and it's no wonder it's an obsolete kit...but i know the VF and C2 (basically the same if you ask me, C2 having minor differences in their idler pullies and chip tuning) are bolt on....that means no modification such as removing the ribs from the A/C compressor pulley.

nope....... my C2 instructoins say to remove and machean the pully to not have rib's init........ balh balh ablh........ holy fuck-Ow. aparently its someshit to about having to use a single sided blet due to th eextra lenght of belt and it being sinlge sided vs. dual sided liek the oe size belt.

all i konw is i like booze and booze like me. i like girls and girls like to fuck my life up........ so im sticking to booze and super chargers. cuz myturbo wont work just yet...........

FUCSK!.........

well, i still stick to that being the most retarded fucking thing i've ever heard.

i bet gates carries a double sided belt in teh length you need, C2 just isn't contacting gates directly, but rather going with something from worldpac or the likings.

more reason for me to go VF if i get a charger....that's rediculous.

While it is kinda rediculous I can understand why.  Lets say you have a custom size double sided belt from gates or whomever.  On the way to DCI NGTG '07 in CO you pickup a rock and shread the belt.  Not many small town stores keep any double sided serp's in stock.  While a majority keep 4-7 rib's in all sizes around.  Plus they're cheap.

Oh, and no I wouldn't grind it.  Find someone who can chuck it into a lathe and do it right.

eyah thats what im thinking...... the thign will fit my drill press i tink, get it spining nice and true and use a stationary grinder to take it off then finish it up w/ some scotchbright sanding and low speed....... maybe.... my vf instructons say to do the same thing. maybe there is a updated belt that i dont have to do this with?.....

tim, i understand what your saying, that's what we did at BBM, but we did it in such a way that it's a true bolt on kit.

i wonder if you have old instructions jess, VF claims it's an 8 hour install process...we did one at BBM on a MK4 VR....no grinding of ANY pulleys....it took 7 1/2 hours.

On low boost you can use a 6 rib double sided and it holds. All these SCs suck for slip anyway why not just start the slip early.

i htink ill be runinng like 12-15lbs of boost, i have the updated pully system form C2 that allows more belt wrap and is suposed to elminate 99% of belt slip age. its realy just a pully off an audi and a shim, and bolt. they sold it to me for 50 buks w/ a template as to wehre i should put the hole for it in one of my existing brackets.....

guess i should grab a spare ac compressor form RS and have a machean shop mill down the silly pully and be done with it. thing cant cost me more than what 20buks to have done. my "bolt on" kit so far has required me to basily repalce everything but the blower, blower mount brakets and....... noep thats it. iv upgraded my ams kit w/ evertying i could get form C2 to make it a better (not super star rad but better) set up. and it scost more than i got teh damn AMS kit for...... kind of lame in my book for what iim into this i could have easily went trubo and been done with it and probably better off. but im too far into this bucket of shit ot stop now........ that and i know if i put on a turbo id blwo it up w/ the boost to high at least this way im limited on what i can do w/ the boost ro soemthing haah.... fuck me..... more i think of it this was over all a BAD idea......... but hay its my bad idea.... not like iv ever had oneof them ebfor!......

so if anyone has a clue how long a belt is needed for the C2 kit w/ the extra warp pully pleas tell me..... maybe i could just look aroudn for the correct belt. GATES RUBER is based partly out of CO i coudl jsut hit them up if i had a fucking cluew what i needed.....
