Lights dimming while at idle on rabbit.
« on: August 27, 2008, 12:07:23 PM »

I noticed while driving at night that when idling the lighting in my rabbit dims and it seems to be pulling power and sometimes it feels like I'm about to stall.

My batt is new, alt new. Is it maybe cause of the batt in the hatch and the cable is real long?

despite their newness, have you put a voltmeter cross them to verify they are good?

That's the first thing I'm gonna try when I get back to the garage.

Voltage regulator?

Battery/alternator brushes might be shot.   (Like he said run a volttimeter on it)

Also check the grounds for a good connection.

*its not the length of the cable to the hatch.... mine runs back to the hatch without any problems.

I would suspect the ground in the hatch before anything else, also make sure your body/engine ground is in good shape.

Man, I'd say 99% of the wiring issues I've dealt with on A1s stemmed from grounding issues...
