Those are the most fun of any of the 4kq's thanks to the lower gearing and lighter weight. They are much more sprightly, and the solid lifter motor revs better than the later 2.2L hydro-head cars.

Be aware that they have the same electrical issues as any Mk1 VW...but there's just more electrical crap. Cleaning all electrical connectors, DeOxit-ing, and dilectric greasing is a VERY good idea.

Otherwise, ensure the cooling system is 100%, drive, and enjoy.
