I get the impression that DCI is a front for a handful of elitests with moderately nice cars who surround themselves with people who cant think for themselves, who need to be part of something to feel better about themselves. Its a viscious cycle. -big bentley on vortex

Another ghetto project

Replacing the engine in my 85.

The old engine. Notice that the front is entirely coated in burnt oil. That's all fresh. Maybe three weeks old. JH motor.

I had forgotten what a pain in the ass it is to get the motor out of a Rocco with the trans still attached.

The GX (low compression ratio. It's like 9/1) with my bigger intake, throttle body and oil cooler slapped on it.
Head's been yanked, serviced and replaced.

20 years of fine particulate built up in the big-bore throttle body.
I'd clean it but it's so fine and well bonded that I think it would do more harm than good.

Ten minutes work with a dremel. The temp guage on the dash always displayed random bullshit, so I just added one over my stereo.

Someone on here recently mentioned that they appreciated having a car that you occasionally had to beat to make it work.
Same principle. I mean, I have to hit the dash to get the lights to come on the speedo side of the cluster, but in this case...
Yeah, I needed to fucking disembowel the car. Show it I mean business.

Ran good for about a month. Now there's water in the fucking oil. I think it's water, anyway. Foam on my oil filler cap, nice espresso foam kind of color. I'm not losing coolant, car doesn't overheat, but the oil light comes on once in a while if the oil gets up to 100c.

WTF? I know the head bolts are new, they're torqued correctly and in sequence, the gasket's brand new... fuck. Cracked water jacket? I don't get it.

you have probably figured this problem out by now, but just in case..

what about your factory oil cooler? they do a GREAT job of mixing oil and coolant when they shit the bed.

Turned out to be FUEL. My cam and spark timing were two teeth off from the crank, so it was forcing hot exhaust gas and fresh fuel-air mixture past the rings. Also had a bad oil pump. Replaced it with one out of a late model 2.0. No more foam.
