Bone stock 2.8L VR6 block, head, trans and clutch. Mk4 headgasket, 262 Autotech cams, Turn2 intake, 42 Draft test pipe, 2.5" TT exhaust. Interstate lawn mower battery and rear and pass seats removed. Weight est 2675 w/driver.

This hunk of shit is going 11's on street tires ... aye, mark my words.

are you running slicks?

i'm seriously baffled by how you can run this in a gti, and i can barely squeeze a 14.8 out of my jetta w/ just as much shit done (minus the mk4 gasket)...

How? I fucking rule.

I called up Billy (the original owner for those who don't know) and he goes:

"Damn that thing will be fast when you start driving it!"

Gotta love how he just pushes me to do better. I think that's most of it, that and a lot of practice.

There's really not alot done and a lot is f'd with it. Motor has 135k and is the stock block for this car, head has about the same and is the head from JR's turbo Jetta but is 100% stock. The clutch is the old one from my white car and it still has AC, PS, all the smog shit, dash rebar, bumper rebar, door bars, etc. Pretty heavy. Oh it's on M+S 205/50/15 street tires. It'd go 13.50s easily on a 22" slick.

I think the Mk4 gasket is good for more then people give it credit for, it's .5pt compression but if you think about it it's about .020" less clearance volume which = squish in that motor. Total squish is down to about .035-040 which can actually fight detonation more even with the comp increase. I think that's why it works so well eventhough you might not see it on a dyno under fairly light load.

FWIW though the most recent PO only ran a 14.6 in the car and all I did was remove the spare, extra seats, ran low gas, and drove it to a 14.048. Only mods between that run and this one was the little battery and putting a K&N on the intake instead of the ghetto filter setup.

I'm going to try and get the AC, PS and smog shit out for Show&Go but I might not have the time. BOO!

If it's before Christmas we can head to Atco, Cecil is closed by then I think. Unless you want to wait until after the thaw in '09.

I think if I use straight 50W in the winter, it won't burn as much oil.  How's that theory?

There's a reason that Valvoline only sells RACING oil in, what is it, ONE weight. DO IT.
