Adjustable beam you can adjust the whole beam up and down.
- If you do get an adjustable beam get smaller shocks.
There are two types of adjusters....
1. Avis adjusters 2.Empi/bugpack
Best bet is an adjustable beam and drop spindles.
*mind you that with drop spindles & adj. beam you can't raise more than 2 in up(short shocks) it but you can certainly lower it lower because of the adjustable beam.
Drop spindles on its own you can go about 2 inches.....IE not enough.
The samba sells narrowed adjustable beams.....
and
drop spindles

awesome... i kept seeing people with different set ups and alot of really low cars i noticed had adjustable beams. im not trying to spend money before i know exactly what i need.... i'm thinking either 4 or 5" narrow adjustable. and then getting the CB disc brake with drop spindle kit.

6 inch Narrow adjustable beam with drop spindles is all you will ever need.

just a thought.
If you are going as low as you say you are and want to fully turn...you will need a 6 inch beam.
Remember 4 inch beam only shortens 2 inches on each side...

i want to go low, but i really dont like when the wheels are 4feet into the fender. although looking again, this car does have a 6" beam...... what exactly does it rub that low, headlight bucket?

It rubs on the headlight bucket and the inner fender when you turn.
I strongly suggest the 6 inch. Especially if you are going to invest in an adjustable beam and D spindles.
It the type of shit that when you get a 4 inch NB you wished you would have gone another 2 inches.

ok. you talked me into it. 6" adjustable. i really want to do this car right and do it the least amount of times possible... i want to build it, and just be able to have fun with it and not worry about "finishing" it later. you know?
if i have to spend more money to get shit right, straight, or whatever i'm cool with that... after working in machine shops and shit i've learned that quality sometimes costs a little more then just getting it done.

The reason i never went lower than i wanted is because i didn't own the beetle long enough to swap to an Adj. beam and spindles. Take it from someone that could barely turn... Do it right and get the 6 inch.

i still like dropped spindles. also i think the 6" narrowed will work better if you are thinking about going for the cb disc brake set up. if i remember correctly, the brake/spindle set up might bump the wheels out some....but dont quote me on that.
