VR6 Issue

OK, this is actually in a '94 Passat GLX, but I thought the MKIII section probably gets a few more views. Ever since I've owned this car, it has had this really bad exhaust smell, and sometimes the fumes are so bad that my eyes start to burn. The plugs look alright, but it smells really rich. It's all stock, except for the TT/Borla exhaust, TT chip, and gutted cat. I gutted the cat because it stopped up shortly after I got the car, probably because it's running rich. Anyway, I've swapped AFMs(thanks Paul) and put the stock chip back in and nothing seemed to change. Any ideas?

Check the coil for obvious cracks, but after that it's most likey a bad O2, failed stuck FPR, or something equally as stupid.

Oh yeah, I put a new O2 sensor in it as well. It runs great and never misses, so I don't think it's the coil pack, but I'll check it out anyway. I'll look into the FPR. I'm pretty sure I've got an extra laying around.

Check fuel pressure that will be a telltale. Also, scan the damned thing to see what it's thinking. Sometimes clearing the codes will make an OBD1 run completely different.

What pressure do they run at? I could look it up, but I'm lazy. Scans come up clean other than some ABS sensors.

Its either 3 or 4 bar.. I know all the later VR6's were 3bar but there were a couple years where they had 4bars..
