The monthly charges for the 3g are more. Cheaper phone, but over the course of 2 years you end up paying a little bit more than had you stuck with the edge version. It's trivial since it's over the course of 24 months but still. Good article on cnn/money about it.

Honestly, I can't complain about the speeds on edge. They're somewhat slow at times but it does me just fine.

I've never connected with Edge as over here, it's pretty much either GPRS or 3G.

Connection over GPRS is therefore mind-numbingly slow, but I connect via WiFi as much as I can.

That being said, I'm still going to get a legit 3G iPhone with a contract:

£99 for the phone on an 18 Month contract.
£35 per month
600 Cross Network, Anytime Minutes
500 Texts
Unlimited 3G
Free Access to a fuck-load of WiFi hotspots that would normally cost about £6 per hour
Visual Voicemail

(roughly double the above prices for US Dollars - but you knew that).

TomTom say their SatNav works on the iPhone now too :)

Pretty indifferent about the 3G, since T-Mobile doesn't support it, but the price drop chaps my ass. Ah well, love the phone.

I pre-ordered my iPhone 3G today. Being delivered on Friday :)

Should be getting my new motorbike on Friday too, so I doubt I'm going to get much work done!

Got the 3g as well. The 8gb on the edge model was just fine for me, so I went with the 8gb in the 3g as well.

Sold the edge iphone for 125 too...so just a lil extra of a bill now.....meh
