« on: April 17, 2007, 07:50:23 AM »

So i c TT has over sized 20V valves. Would they be worth the money? On a big turbo motor?

Thanks

i posted on vortex adn got no responce.

here's what i have.

good aeb head core

either A. i rebiuld it liek stock and call it good or B. i rebuild it w/ biger valves and hope to make some kindof hp w/ all the extra shit i jsut bough.

hre is what the TT catalong has....

109.087     20v (1.8t) H.D. Valve Spring Kit with Titanium Retainers     $495.00
109.119    High Performance Intake Valve for 1.8T (26.9mm, 6mm Undercut)    $28.00
109.119X    High Performance Oversize Intake Valve for 1.8T (27.9mm, 6mm Undercut)    $29.00
109.120    High Performance Exhaust Valve for 1.8T (29.9mm, 6mm stem)    $34.00
109.120X    High Performance Exhaust Valve for 1.8T (1mm over size 30.9mm, 6mm stem)    $40.00
109.126    Intake Valve for 1.8T OEM (26.9mm, 6mm Stem)    $22.00
109.127    Exhaust Valve for 1.8T OEM (30mm, 6mm Stem)    $52.00
109.235    Valve Guide-silicone bronze (20v 6mm)    $6.00
109.311    Valve Stem Seal 6mm (20v 1.8t and 5v V6)    $1.50

i dont need valves, i have 2 heads w/ good valves in both heads. id only be buying valves if i were trying to squez some kind of extra HP out of this head.

im afraid to buy valves as A. they are not cheap at all B. i dont know if id realy be making any more hp w/ them as i would w/ out them. C. is there realy any more room for air in the combustoin chamber?

my motor is going to have a big turbo, big manifold blh balh...... and with 3 intake valves and 2 exhaust valves per cylinder...... should i really need biger valves?..... i figure ihave to be clsot ot being maxed out on room to stuff air.. but i coudl be worng so im asking.

if they are the valves me and jeff @ TT talked about, they do flow better and dont require you to recut the seat for the valve....something with the way they are shaped, they utilize the factory valve seat that you currently have.

i do know the stems are undercut so they get thinner twards the actual head of the valve, that helped with air flow as well.

i dont know how they work, but apparently they work. and do it well.

i see they ahve both under cut oem size valves. and they have stander shank 1mm larger valves. but not both on 1 valve. i wonder wich is a better deal, and if it would be worth the money. im looking at a extra grand in valves. thas a lot of loot for something that maynot realy make more hp. if it weer an all motor acr id be all over it but being boosted and big time boosted. i wonder if there is much real improvement in pwoer. as the turbo will be stuffing ar in so fast and hard i dont know if there is room for much if any improvement. and this is where im hungup. as i coudl spend that grand in other departmetns if this is not going to pay off.

oh and i like puppy sand butter!

thanks
