IS TIRERACK TAKING YOUR PROFITS?

i got this in a email....... what u guys thinkg?

IS TIRERACK TAKING YOUR PROFITS?

Does anyone realize or care what tirerack is doing to the tire and wheel industry?
All the manufactures want to do is sell product, they are no better than the average
mail order company in trying to control and maintain a competitive price so the
retail stores can (who built this tire and wheel business) have the edge nationally
on price.

To all retail store owners, I would hope by now that you realize that buying from
tirerack only makes them bigger, it still blows my mind why retail stores insist on
buying from their competition. Everyone knows that if you have a so-called wholesale
account with tirerack you are saving 8-10% less than the average person who calls
into tirerack. Can your business survive off  8% profit on every sale?  I know there
are more companies out there, manufactures included that will sell to the public,
but we have got to start somewhere, and it seems that for my business, the
percentage of people bringing their own merchandise to me instead of buying if from
me has risen dramatically. I am sure there are a lot of you out there in the same
boat because i have spoken too many of you on this issue.

To all tire manufactures, what are you going to do for the 80% of the jobbers who
understand to buying process, why don't you just stop selling to all wd's and sell
direct to everyone, and make it the same playing field. Cant do that, the wd's spend
too much money.

Jobbers, we need to address this issue before it gets way out of hand, because it
seems nobody else will. One solution - stop putting the stuff on. When the customer
comes into your store explain to him that you are in business to serve your
customers not somebody else's. or if you cant turn away the money then make it worth
you while, charge the customer $150 or $200 depending on the size, if everyone where
to charge a high rate for customers that bring in there own merchandise because they
saved a few bucks from tirerack then eventually customers will realize there is no
difference in price and we can get them back into the stores so you can offer better
service.

Tirerack wants them to come to you they need you to stay in business who is going to
put their tires on for them and keep them balanced and maintained.

Do the math yourself, it works on most tires, if you pay 150.00 per tire from your
WD and tirerack charges 175 for the tire online. By the time you mark up your
percentage and add 50.00 mount and balance, you should see that you are the same if
not cheaper than tirerack if you charge 200.00 to m/b THEIR stuff.

If you are receiving this email and would like to help other retail stores maintain
better profits email me your thoughts, and if you have an email list of other people
in the business and would like me to send this email and future emails to them,
please give me their info and I will do so.

One person can make a difference with the help of others
