If it was hot tanked, did you replace the intermediate shaft bearings?

Also CIS w/ a knock box ignition will work just fine.  I ran similar compression before.  Look around yards for a Volvo 240 turbo w/ CIS, that is the hot ticket, no need to mess with WOT enrichment either.

Sounds like you're doing fine.  The 16V TB will work just fine also.  As to bracketry?  No clue, I'm an 8V guy....

so ur saying u carry a series II and dont have any issues w/ ur external ejector scrweuing up on u?

It's mainly something people on the internet like the bitch about.  Bottom line is a properly tuner (tensioned) extractor will work just fine.  Either internal or external.

Sights are a matter of preference.  I find that factory night sights are often overpriced.  But changing them on a gun that used dovetails isn't that hard.  With a couple tools and some patience you can even do it yourself.  I wouldn't have that hamper your decision to buy.

With Glocks stay with GLOCK mags.  My 1911 ran great on Wilson Combat and metalform mags.  McCormicks are good too.

If I found a deal on a series 1 gun, I'd be all over it, they're just not that available.

$650 for a custom 2 sounds like a great deal.  DO EET!

.... i reay want a 45cal and figure why not get the tried adn true 1911. a local shop has a brand new kimber fro what seems like a good price for a name brand 1911. anyone ever shot any brand 1911? anyone ever woned a kimber? i cant find anyplace around town that will rent me one of these guns to shoot. befor i drop any loot id like to know this is a good quality 1911, there are just too many of them on the market for me to be able to realy understand what im geting inot between all the diffrent brnds.

Kimbers are decent 1911's.  I own a RIA that I love, at least until a 'smith fucked it up.  Anyway, somewhere should have a 1911 to rent, just have to ask around.  Or ask anyone you know that shoots, someone should own one they'll let you shoot.

With it being a Kimber, make sure the dealer is giving you a good price, lots will try to jack the price up.  IIRC the Custom II is a basic "custom" 1911 with a beavertail, extended safety, sights, and flared/lowered ejection port.  Great place to start with a 1911.

Also look at the Springfield Loaded as it's a similar spec gun.

I don't think you have a rabbit sickness, I think you are forever doomed to feel the need to engage in more projects than you have time for.

I'm guilty of that too....  I collect hobbies

In your country I'd guess it is.....  It could definitely be argued as a "flick" knife.

Full = Highest Qualification (Also known as the Advanced Licence)

It goes:

Foundation (10w HF/VHF/UHF)
Intermediate (50w)
Advanced (400w and able to use a radio in pretty much any country in the world)

Interesting.  Are there band restrictions on those licenses?  Or are you allowed them all at reduced power with the Foundation?

Here a Technician (Basic) will get you VHF/UHF, and up to 10m.  Watts aren't restricted either.

That's exactly what I was wondering too.  I am required to get a Technician license for my volunteer efforts with the Citizen Emergency Response BS :P - so - I'll be doing that too.

Very easy if you haven't looked into it yet.

I'm licensed too. M0JMO - Full licence.

Nice stealthy install there.  Just watch out for heat with the radio tucked away like that.  You might want to install a couple of small fans (in a blow/suck config) to help get rid of some heat.

Good luck with the exam  thumbsup

I've thought about the heat, I'll be monitoring it.  The ICOM has a built in fan on the unit and the cubby hole is rather large.

I'm not familiar with UK licenses...Full?

Decided I needed more crap installed in my Tacoma, so I've been studying for my technicians license.  Ended up at Ham Radio Outlet in PDX last week and picked up an ICOM IC-208H and NMO coax.  Combined w/ a Larsen dual band antenna and a 3/4" holesaw will make a good setup.

Here's the install, just put the external speaker in as the unit is remote mounted.  Hopefully the holesaw will be here and I'll finish the install this weekend.  Then take my exam next week up here in WA.

43  Random Bullshittery / Outside Kid Discussion / Re: thinking about a Remington 597 on: October 15, 2008, 08:27:02 AM
I saw one at a shop in Corvallis last week.  I also know a few dealers in PDX that can get them easy last I knew.  Let me know and I'll forward you guys the info.

What kinda ramp you using?  A long 8'+ curved ramp would make riding it up pretty easy.

The mkII is what my brother and I learned how to shoot with- I love that pistol.

I tried a couple other .22 pistols (including the browning buckmark, some s&w revolver and a couple other non-noteworthy varieties) and the only thing I liked more than that old ruger mkII was the neos.

Next time I'm in TN I want to try the walther P22 my dad got, he loves the hell out of it.

I've been wanting to get a P22 w/ a can for quite a while.
