It truely is sad to see a car club that I knew in the PNW back in '98 /'99 go to shit with people like you and all your east coast cloanies. Now i see why some of the "original" crew have left the scene. Looks like a bunch of DEMONIC WHOREDs who run nothing but there fucking mouth in the DCI now........... - Euro2.0

I have a CRKT M21 at home.  Very similar to the M16, but a different blade profile.  Excellent knife for the money.
2  Random Bullshittery / Outside Kid Discussion / Re: knives? on: October 07, 2008, 06:53:47 AM
Is that CRKT sharpened on both edges?  Just by design tho it could cause legal issues in several states.

My absolute favorite knife?  Benchmade Griptilian

I have a combo edge and a Ritter Semi-custom in S30V that I use daily.  Also have another 1 or 2 around in my woods gear.

For a fixed blade, here's my choice.  BM Nimvarus, I prefer the older models with G10 scales.

Nevermind, I found an electric bosch fuel pump that I bought originally for my RoadRunner that I never used except for siphoning gas ;)

Check it's pressure rating and if needs a reg.  Here's what I run/ran, will run again, on the Race car.

Seriously, sounds like more work to do the swap if you're wanting a cheap driver.  But it's your car :)  Once you figure out CIS I love it's simplicity.

car: 1.6L FI 78' Rabbit

I recently procured a 2L ABA bottom/JH top motor for very cheap which is currently setup with the passenger side pointing intake and FI.

I have a single draft carb (Holley 5200) jetted for a 2L on an 8v intake.  I think it'd be more fun to have the carb on then run FI and would love to run a clean engine bay.

Anything I should know about this swap?  The linkage I'm not worried about, I can do that jazz.  I think I'd need a different gas tank/fuel pump.  Ideas?

Just swap a regular rabbit intake manifold onto it and everything else will plug in.

Sweet deal.  Like you said, check it all out and clean the float bowels and see their condition.
7  Random Bullshittery / Computers & Electronics / Re: data backup on: September 10, 2008, 08:59:51 AM
just curious what others are using for data backups? ie: storage devices, hardware, software and whatnots.... NAS, RAID (which one), external hdds, servers???

Just posting this as I know most people don't think about it until it's too late and the nano-gremlins ate their data. Hopefully not after midnight!!!

About the only thing I backup are pictures and work data.  most of that goes onto a CDR, although I'm thinking of getting an external HD too.

anyone have spare beat down 5spd parts?

anyone ever tried to use a shifter set up from a mk3? i ahv everything in my mk3 that is goign to be soon a cable shift car, could i retro fit it to the rabbit?

I may have some 5-speed parts in a couple weeks.  Depending what Mr. Bunny has on him.
9  Car & Tech Talk / A1 Rabbit/Jetta / Re: teach me 5sdp tranny swap on: September 05, 2008, 08:45:22 AM
Easy shit.  Get the 5 speed driver side mount and it'll drop in.  The existing linkage will work "ok" but 5th is sometimes a bit hard to get into.  Throw in some 5 speed rabbit shifter linkage and you're good to go.  VERY easy.
10  Car & Tech Talk / General Auto / Re: overheating issue. on: September 02, 2008, 06:39:18 AM
what would make a QSW overheat on the freeway and not in town?

my guess was thermostat not open, but im retarded. brain damage!

keep the banter bullshit to a minimum, thanks. you're #1!

Most likely thermostat.  but also check to see if the cap holds pressure.

Delta Camshaft if your place.  They have grinds of most of the popular cams everyone sells for less than $100.  Also be carefull on duration #'s, shops sell cams by the numbers being higher, what lift was that measured at.

What motor's it going into?  Also what fueling and car weight?
12  Marketplace / For Sale/Trade / Re: '86 Cabby Project on: August 26, 2008, 06:18:53 AM
what do you want for it without the motor/tranny etc.. i can find an ABA to put in, especially if it already had one in it. no stereo either. hows the top?

I'm really not sure.  $1500?  The top was replaced a few years back by me, but I had an issue at the pass rear corner (clipped a little) but it doesn't leak there.  Could help to reseal the rear window.  I even have another seal in the garage.

Are you saying you don't want the stereo gear?

Crap; also has alarm w/ 2 way paging, and autostart that isn't hooked up.  Power windows and locks.  Oh and Evil tech stickers....

13  Marketplace / For Sale/Trade / '86 Cabby Project on: August 24, 2008, 05:13:04 PM
Thinking of selling the basket.

1986 Cabby

White w/ black interior, Black Top

Motor pulled, comes w/ tranny and parts to put another together, or the high milage ABA I pulled out.

No FI in it, I'm keeping the SDS.

Ground Controls over Koni's Fr / KYB's back
15x7" Kosei K1's w/ newer Kumho tires

Stereo, seperated w/ amp and deck needs to be put in.

Key word, PROJECT

Any interest?  I can dig up pics and more specs if anyone is interested....

Dunlop SP8000's in 195/55/14 are an awesome tire.

Also Toyo made the T1-S? in a 185-55-14 at one point in time.  both great tires.
