I gotta say it.  what's with the watermark?  surely it doesn't need to be that in your face.  some of the shots are great, but ruined by the watermark.

No problem.  I make money off of selling prints and digital copies of my pictures on the internets.  So, these are pictures I've posted to my site (http://www.shutterdriven.com) that I link to on here.  Because of the ease of copying images on the internets I've placed the watermark to assist in curbing people stealing my images... ...which has happened that I've caught approx 20 times.

Exif watermarks are simply not effective, I personally can strip them with a stroke of a key.  Smaller graphical watermarks work initially but all you have to do is usually crop an image to remove them.  So, I'm left with an intrusive large graphical watermark which has in effect stopped people snarfing my images mostly.

When people purchase the images in either digital or hard copy form - the watermark is not present :)

The few pics I've seen from you guys make me embarassed to post my own shots from a point and shoot.

Could someone point me in the right direction to get started on taking better pictures?  Gear, skills, etc?

Alright mandingo.  I'll take a stab.

First off...  What do you REALLY want to do?  Aside from just "taking better pictures".  I mean, you can take a great photo with a shit camera if you can compose it right.   What type of shooting do you want to do?  What do you most like taking pictures of?

I was seriously expecting to see your ass.  I still am.

If only I had some ham about, I could make a great Dennys redux of "Moons over Myhammy".

Nevermind, I found an electric bosch fuel pump that I bought originally for my RoadRunner that I never used except for siphoning gas ;)

the carter fuel pump is only like 75 bucks.  On Rando's, we installed that pump, and capped off the return line.  Ignition is stock CIS coil, distributor, and ICM.  Super easy conversion.

Sweet, that sounds like exactly what I'm ginna do.  Where did you pick up the pump?

Just swap a regular rabbit intake manifold onto it and everything else will plug in.

To keep the FI?  I wanted to run this swank carb I have/had on the rally car...

car: 1.6L FI 78' Rabbit

I recently procured a 2L ABA bottom/JH top motor for very cheap which is currently setup with the passenger side pointing intake and FI.

I have a single draft carb (Holley 5200) jetted for a 2L on an 8v intake.  I think it'd be more fun to have the carb on then run FI and would love to run a clean engine bay.

Anything I should know about this swap?  The linkage I'm not worried about, I can do that jazz.  I think I'd need a different gas tank/fuel pump.  Ideas?
14  Random Bullshittery / Computers & Electronics / Re: laptop harddrive formating? on: September 28, 2008, 08:11:00 AM
it all depends on where the passwd is coming from.  If it's coming from bios you won't be able to do what I'm about to suggest.  If it is the bios passwd, you'll have to take the lappy apart, pull the cmos battery, wait a few seconds, replace (or find the cmos clear jumper (if there is one - which there usually isn't on lappies).

Or...

Put in an OS cd and figure out the key sequence you have to hit to boot from cdrom when the lappy is booting.  Try:

F8
Esc
F4

if that doesn't work, google the model of your laptop with "boot from cdrom" and you should find it.  This is an easy and common thing to happen.
