washington surfing?
« on: November 17, 2008, 04:43:50 PM »

so i've been looking, and I see westport which looks somewhat legit.  It's a couple hours away, which i guess i should be fairly content with, but i'm not finding any other spots, at all.  I know this state isn't known for waves, but is this the only decent  location?  I was hoping to find something around the sound but i guess thats not gonna happen.  Two hours away my best case scenario?

Lots of people surf up and down the Pacific coast.

The sound is a mellow inland waterway, you wont find anything there.

Vancouver Island is money.

You can surf Port Angeles where the river (elwah) comes out into the straight -- the outgoing river water creates a OK rip.  I'm not sure if that's really any better for driving time  since you either have to drive around the south end of the sound and then all the way north, or have to take a ferry.

I used to go when I lived in PDX -- a shorter drive to the coast since there isn't a sound and a huge park/forest between you and the water.

BW Brent would be able to tell you all the good spots, the time of year to go, and best time of day.

i want to say he went to Neah Bay a lot, but i'm not positive.
